With diverse backgrounds in community development, public service, and hospitality, our leaders bring decades of experience and a shared commitment

Marchellas Murphy | Founder/CEO

Marchellas Murphy began his career in construction working alongside his father and now leads a second-generation construction company. With over 20 years of experience in new construction development, human resources, sales leadership, and finance management, he has a strong track record of success.  He has spent more than a decade leading seasoned professionals and collaborating with government officials on community development projects. Passionate about mentorship, he supports emerging entrepreneurs and promotes apprenticeship programs for workforce development. Marchellas holds a B.S. in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry from Tennessee State University and an M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Keiser.

Jerica Banks | Chief Operating Officer

Jerica Banks is a Design Principal, Project Manager, and entrepreneur with over 14 years of experience in Interior Architecture and Design. She holds a BFA in Interior Design and leads residential, commercial, and hospitality projects through her firm, Interiors by J. Michelle, and online retailer Black Arteriors. Her portfolio includes more than 120 clients, along with oversight of key vendor partner relationships.  Her design philosophy emphasizes function, aesthetic integrity, and lasting impact. Jerica has served as an adjunct instructor at Belmont University’s O’More College and a board member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). An active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, she is also dedicated to civic engagement, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and mentoring students through Nashville’s PENCIL Foundation. Her work reflects a commitment to functional, inclusive development.  design and community-centered.

Guided by strategic partnerships and a people-first approach, we work to deliver sustainable impact where it’s needed most.

Joe Johnson | Director of Business Development

 Joe Johnson is a visionary business leader, committed philanthropist, and multi–Grammy Award-winning musician dedicated to transforming communities and creating lasting impact. As Director of Business Development for Square One Community Partners, he drives strategic growth and high-level partnerships that expand opportunity nationwide. A proud Memphis native, Joe has launched some of Tennessee’s most celebrated hospitality and entertainment destinations, including SupperClub on Belcourt, WKND Hang Suite, Bungalow 10, and Jazz and Jokes revitalizing neighborhoods and enriching cultural life. Passionate about giving back, he co-founded Instruments in the Inner City, champions the National Museum of African American Music as a President’s Society member, and has shaped cornerstone events like the Jefferson Street Jazz & Blues Festival and the Bessie Smith Heritage Festival. His leadership and community commitment have earned him honors including the Memphis City Schools Hall of Fame and TSU’s ICON Award. With a music career spanning three decades as a Musical Director and saxophonist for legends like Aretha Franklin, Freddie Jackson, After 7, and Angela Winbush, Joe continues to set the standard for excellence bridging entrepreneurial success, cultural legacy, and transformative community impact. 

Arnold Morris | Revenue Officer

Arnold Morris is a decorated U.S. Army veteran with 15 years of honorable service, having served in multiple global conflicts including the Iraq War, Operation Desert Storm, Panama, and Bosnia. He notably participated in the pivotal Battle of 73 Easting during the Gulf War under the leadership of General H.R. McMaster.  With specialized expertise in public relations and development, Mr.  Morris brings a strategic and mission-driven approach to veteran and community engagement.  As the founder of MinkSlide, LLC, he has led numerous initiatives aimed at economic empowerment and local development. In his role as Chief Revenue Officer for Veterans and Community Outreach, he will guide efforts to foster meaningful connections, resource access, and support services for veterans and underserved communities.

Alexandria Mosley | Partnership Director

Alexandria Mosley is a seasoned HR leader with over 20 years of federal government experience and a strong commitment to community impact. A graduate of Tennessee State University and the University of  Wisconsin–Milwaukee, she brings strategic insight and  compassionate leadership to her role as Partnership Director at Square One.  Alexandria has led initiatives supporting veterans in securing employment, housing, and essential resources, and she is known for building meaningful partnerships that strengthen communities. Her people-first approach and dedication to equity play a vital role in advancing Square One’s mission to create sustainable, inclusive development. 

Elexis Harden | Community Outreach Leader

Elexis Harden is an accomplished HR leader and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience driving people-focused strategies and fostering inclusive workplace cultures. Her expertise spans talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and leadership development, all aligned with organizational goals. Elexis has led organizations through growth and cultural change, always keeping people at the center. A passionate advocate for community engagement, she bridges the gap between businesses and the communities they serve, combining strategic insight with a hands-on approach to create equitable, thriving environments.

Christopher Douglas | Digital Creative Director

Christopher Douglas is an award-winning graphic designer with over 20 years of experience in graphic design, branding, and advertising. His work has earned prestigious honors, including both Hermes and MarCom Awards. With a proven ability to deliver impactful visual solutions, Douglas has led creative projects across diverse industries, consistently elevating brand identities and driving audience engagement.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Web and Digital Design, seamlessly integrating traditional design principles with cutting-edge digital strategies to create compelling, user centered experiences. Throughout his career, Douglas has served as a senior designer and creative director at leading agencies and organizations, where he has guided cross functional teams and developed visual campaigns that resonate across both print and digital platforms. 

Nicholas Jones | Building Permit Specialist

Nicholas Jones With over 20 years of experience in recruitment consulting across corporate and staffing sectors both nationally and internationally, Nicholas brings a wealth of expertise to our team. He has held leadership roles at the Manager and Director level for more than a decade, cultivating a strong network of business relationships and talent connections throughout his career. His diverse background and strategic insight add significant value to our organization.
